The fishing is incredible here and there are plenty of inshore and offshore guides to show you the action. With close proximity to Myrtle Beach, golfers have access to over a hundred courses with nearby Oak Island a must play on anyone’s list. A trip to the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher is a great way to spend the day, the ferry ride alone is worth the trip. While you’re there don’t forget to visit the Fort itself, after all the fall of Fort Fisher in 1865 was crucial to ending the Civil War. If only these huge oaks could share their stories. They would surely captivate those young and old, from pirates like Blackbeard and Stede Bonnet who found shelter beneath them to today when they themselves are the backdrop for the latest Hollywood film.
